Expert Surgeons

I was researching reflux surgery on the internet one night and I came across a surgeon who was an “expert” in reflux surgery. I went to his website and this is what was listed as his expertise:

  • Adrenalectomy
  • Appendicitis
  • Breast Surgery
  • Cancer Surgery
  • Colorectal Surgery
  • Endoscopy & Colonoscopy
  • Esophagus Surgery
  • Gallbladder Surgery
  • GERD Surgery
  • Hernia Surgery
  • Laparoscopic Surgery
  • Liver Surgery
  • Lung Surgery and Thoracic Surgery
  • Other Procedures
  • Pancreatic Surgery
  • Parathyroid Surgery
  • Spleen Surgery & Splenectomy
  • Stomach Surgery
  • Trauma Surgeon
  • Thyroid Surgery
  • Vascular Surgery

So, I find it very difficult to be an expert at everything. If you read The Tipping Point, by Malcom Gladwell it takes 10,000 hours to be an expert at something. If that is true, then a surgeon who is an expert at everything really needs to retire as they are at least 100 years old, or they are really not the expert in any particular disease.

At Institute of Esophageal and Reflux Surgery, the esophagus and stomach is all we treat. Dr Bell has dedicated his career to hiatal hernias, paraesopahgeal hernias, and reflux. We perform over 250 procedures a year that are all related to hiatal hernias and reflux. He has published many studies in this area, has been invited to participate in multiple clinical trials, served on committees of professional organizations, and known across the country and the world for his expertise in this one area.

So if you want to see a surgeon in Denver, Colorado for any issue related to a hiatal hernia, paraesophageal hernia, or reflux…. come see Dr Bell.
