GERD Treatment with the EsophyX TIF Procedure

GERD or Gastroesophageal disease is a condition where acid and stomach contents flow back into the esophagus. The EsophyX TIF procedure is an innovative treatment for GERD that can be done without surgery or any other invasive procedure. TIF stands for Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication. This procedure is offered with EsophyX, which provides a solution to treat the irksome symptoms of GERD without surgery.

In this procedure, the patient is given general anesthesia. EsophyX device is inserted into the esophagus using an endoscope, which has a camera attached to it. This allows the surgeon to get a clear view of the esophagus. The device is then placed in the oesophageal sphincter muscle. This makes the device work like a valve and thus prevents acid and stomach contents from flowing back into the esophagus.

It is a safe and effective procedure that is approved by the FDA. It is a convenient and patient-friendly procedure that does not involve incisions, scarring, or dissection of tissues. The recovery is quick and happens smoothly. The patient is given medicine for a week or two, after which no further medication is needed.

The results of the procedure would be evident within a few weeks. Reflux would stop, and this improves the quality of life for the patient. Studies have shown that a majority of patients did not need any further medication for the problem, and it provided a long-term solution to treat GERD.
